Final Image

Image
My final image is going to focus on the cat dog hybrid and how it connects opposites. In this case, male and female. The dog represents the male and the cat, represents the female as it's seen as more feminine. I actually made the hands my own hands then changed the colour. Here is the original: This is my final design, where I added text so it's more clear what I want the dog cat hybrid to represent: The logos I think that represent my theme are: Nokia Accord  Irish Human Rights and Equality Commission Growing Together The one I ended up with was the Nokia logo: Statement My final image is based around the idea of a hybrid bringing humans together. What I was going for originally was the hybrid bringing a male and a female together as that's the most common example of a polar opposite pair. However, I realised that it can also mean more than male and female by looking at the final image. Instead of forcing b...

Fifth Set of Prototypes

Image
I have decided to focus on the dog cat hybrid with the hands. It can be be changed in many different ways to mean many different things. What I'm really going for is how hybrids bring opposites together.  For example, male and female and yin and yang. They may be very different but the hybrid can allow them to connect come together and forget about their differences. I did this week's prototypes by changing the colour scheme, textures and background to suit what I needed to portray. Dog Person vs Cat Person _____________________ Introvert vs Extrovert _____________________ Male vs Female _____________________ Water vs Fire _____________________ Yin vs Yang (or black vs white) _____________________ Ireland vs England

Fourth Set of Prototypes

Image
I have firmly decided that my theme with deal with animal hybrids, both good and bad. I created all my backgrounds for this week in Illustrator, keeping the patterns relevant to what I'm trying to portray in the image. I'm deviating from mostly photo-based pictures to more digital-based images, but I made sure to add in photo elements to every completed image. This is last week's fox hybrid improved to add in a camouflage background to make it more clear what the hybrid element of the animal is - blending in to its surroundings.  __________________ I added hands to each image, separating the two worlds of dog vs cats. The human with the dog appears to be the one in charge, however the human with the cat is offering the cat food, implying that the cat is the one calling the shots. The paint splatters in the background are an indication that the person who created the hybrid doesn't really know what they're doing and just hoped for the best, very s...

Third Set of Prototypes

Image
This week I am really focusing on the hybrid aspect of animals. I want to combine animal species to make an even better mixed result. I will do this by finding out certain animals' weaknesses and then giving them parts of other animals that can counteract the weaknesses. However, I also want to combine animals to make an even worse mix. The reason for that is to make a statement about human interference in nature and how we shouldn't get involved in DNA mixing as it is immoral and wrong. The first hybrid I made was a butterfly completely made from fire. The reason for this was because I learned that butterflies can't fly if they are too cold, they love warm conditions the most. I first sketched the butterfly shape on paper then scanned and traced that into Illustrator. The flames are made using a brush set I found online: ____________________ The second is a redesigned version of the robin I did last week. I realised that robins were a superstition relating to ...

Second Set of Prototypes

Image
I realised that the term "hybrid" could mean more than just combining images of living things together so to acquire better characteristics, it also means getting something that is a mixture of two different things. So I decided to base my prototypes this week around that idea - creating an image of a living thing that's made with photos that I have taken. I can use both Illustrator and Photoshop. One image I decided to do was a fox made entirely of photos of flowers that I took. I made sure to use the right colours - changing the hue where I needed to. I first quickly sketched a photo of a fox then used that as a base in Photoshop. This is the final prototype: Here is my sketch: ______________________________ My second image is a tree decorated completely with pictures of lights that I took at home. I made this hybrid by combining a tree that I created using Illustrator, a picture of Christmas fairylights that I altered the colour of and finally...

My Theme

I have decided that my theme will deal with the hybrids of living organisms. I want to give a life and a story to something that doesn’t typically have either of those things.  For my end result, I want to be able to combine images that result in creations that nobody has ever seen before – and put them together so that they tell us a story just by looking at them. I would like the final result to be clear, but not so clear that the viewer understands the meaning at first glance. I would like to leave an element of mystery and let the person looking at it interpret it on their own.  I will use my photos to create animals, plants and other objects and I will also use Photoshop and Illustrator to put them together.
