Subject 2: Nana's House
For this subject, I choose my nana's house to photograph as it holds a lot of sentimental value to me. About two years ago, she fell, hitting her head and had to go into permanent care. To this day, she's still there but her mind is weak and she doesn't really remember who we are anymore.
The things I photographed are the things that stood out to me the most when I entered the house. The first thing that caught my eye was her walker and her old shoes in front of them. It was where she normally positioned them when she was at home by the fire.
The webs covering the cups in the press really saddened me as she always loved to make tea for herself and others. I thought it reflected her current state really well.
Other things I photographed were in the religious category as she was always a devout, moral person. Even though she was a typical Irish grandmother, always going to mass every Sunday, she was very modern in her beliefs and wasn't afraid to accept new things. The rosary beads over the calendar reflect this. She was able to move along with the times while retaining her faith the best way she could.
